Position Overview
Project Engineer / Metrology Specialist
Provide metrology solutions including but not limited to Laser Trackers, Portable Arms, CMM’s, Laser Scanners, dimensional inspections, machine alignments, reverse engineering, tooling certification, and software & hardware training.
Utilization of 3D CAD software for inspection and data acquisition including PolyWorks, Geomagic Design X, CMM Manager and/or similar software applications.
Perform routine dimensional and visual inspections utilizing precision instruments and tools and provide technical as well as non-technical guidance to team members and clients.
Generate inspection reports and spreadsheets for data collection and client specifications.
Coordinate critical equipment management and instrumentation through proper maintenance to ensure quality calibration and maximum performance.
Qualifications / Requirements
BS in Mechanical Engineering or similar or 3+ years 3D metrology experience is preferred.
Mechanical/technical background and relevant work experience in related technologies/software.
Skilled in 3D metrology, model-based inspection methods, and using laser scanners, FARO/Romer arms, laser trackers, structured light scanners, or CMM’s.
Expertise in conducting dimensional studies using 3D scan data and post-processing and interpretation of point cloud measurement data using PolyWorks|Inspector™ or similar.
Expertise in Dimensional Software data collection packages: PolyWorks|Inspector™ (preferred), CAM2, CMM Manager, PC-DMIS, Verisurf, Insight, Spatial Analyzer, or BuildIt.
Experience with Reverse Engineering Software packages: Geomagic Design X (preferred), SpaceClaim, or PolyWorks|Modeler™.
Experience with CAD packages: SolidWorks (preferred), CREO, Inventor, or Fusion 360.
Ability to read and interpret CAD and mechanical drawings, blueprints, and GD&T specifications.
Self-starter, innovative, willingness to develop and install new tools and processes.
Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously.
Interpersonal and communication skills amongst team members and clients.
A knack for project planning and calculation of labor estimates for specified projects and future requirements to meet client needs for pending projects.
Operation of forklifts and use of hoists and lifts to organize and move objects and materials.
Physical activities may include standing, lifting, pushing, climbing, carrying and operating heavy objects/equipment.
Ability to pass pre-employment and periodic drug & background screens, per client requirements.
Location / Travel
This position will be based in Houston, TX.
Travel domestically about 30-60% of the time, with occasional international travel.
Valid driver’s’ license with a clean driving record.
Required to obtain a US Passport and TWIC card if neither is currently possessed.
