Laser Scanning the Past into Life
Crews with Mike Sorrell Trucking of Freeport found this skull while working in a sandpit about 40 feet deep and about 150 feet wide. After experts examined the skull, it was estimated to be approximately four thousand years old. The Freeport Historical Museum asked forensic sculptor Amanda Danning to recreate Wilma’s face. However, in order to do so, she would need an exact physical copy of the skull to work on. Dimensional Engineering was asked to laser scan and create a 3D model of the skull, after which Dow Chemical Company 3D printed.
